We both shoot Canon, partially for the sake of minimizing the cost of equipment and since we're more familiar with their cameras. Being able to share lenses also mean we don't have to keep too many lenses around.
Blue primarily shoots with primes, and Pink shots with zoom lenses. We will talk more about our equipments later, but right now the most 'interesting' news is the recent announcement of Canon 60D.
We first heard and saw the sneak pictures from Canon Rumors in early August, and were apprehensive about it. Now that it has officially been announced and previews have started streaming in, there have been many debates on the virtue or folly of the 60D. We do use the Canon 50D, and judging by specifications alone, our biggest concern about the 60D is the plastic body (vs. 50D's magnesium) and apparent loss of micro adjustment (which was a big plus when you deal with different lenses). But you do gain HD video recording and swivel LCD (I can think of a few use cases, but imagine I'd probably leave it alone most of the time). Let's wait and see how the final version will actually perform. Until then, we don't feel the need to rush.
Amazon has started accepting preorders for the body:
- Canon EOS 60D 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3.0-Inch LCD (Body Only)
- Canon EOS 60D 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3.0-Inch LCD and 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS UD Standard Zoom Lens
Have an awesome week!
